I love going to see a stage play or a new art exhibit. For something less formal a day on the water is always fun. I live right near the beach on the James River.

If there's a 2nd date we could spend the first portion of it lounging in your hot tub talking and eating fruit (grapes, strawberries, etc.) and drinking champagne. Then, we break for a meal and after washing off we end it with a home movie.
Something different than the typical dinner & a movie as I was married before and dated thereafter (so, been there, done that).
My first date would be a nice cooked meal, that I've made, into a picnic basket. I would take her to see a few museums first, and after, to a nice place with a beautiful view, so that we can eat and talk.
A great first date would involve a night of poetry...first and farmost... live music/concert, dinner out or a nice visit to a unique coffee bar for coffee and conversation is also cool.
The best thing for me would be to do something both people like, e.g. I'd love to see a play, or to go to a concert. However, I'm always open for improvisations.
I just want to go to the theatre - see a play or anything - have some ice cream during the break, talk about the play after.
And maybe dinner - if we feel like.
